A translation of the GazettE’s “Ganges ni Akai Bara” from their studio album “Stacked Rubbish”. This is the one song for which one of the front three hasn’t written music for – drummer Kai wrote the music, and it has a touch of his jazz roots. The song’s title refers to the river Ganges in India, which is the most sacred river in Hindu. They believe its waters are purifying and can redeem the dead; these beliefs are probably why the song makes references to the Ganges.
Please do not steal this translation or use it without my permission. All rights belong to the GazettE and their label PS Company.

If I were to liken you to something,
You're a crow that seems about to fall into the water's surface with wings
spread wide. What are you looking at with those playful, innocent eyes?
Please, give peace to that girl whose thin hand now reaches for heaven...

Bishou majiri no Hymn togireru to douji ni kimi ha fumihazusu
The brass rosario that hangs from your neck
Replaced a light-brown leather rope.
A hymn of mixed smiles stops, and as it does, you miss a step.

I look at the wavering shadow, my senses peeled away.
The meaningless understanding, the scattered cult, the cold sounds of the
ringing bell....

I clasp my hands together in deep prayer this shyly-ornamented February.
Oh God who will not save us, please, answer me.
If the meaning of life can only be felt in death, then it is in death that
the flower of life will bloom.
The colourless God and the roses that wither in sleep
Embrace you as you drown deeply in beautiful darkness.

Your form was stolen away like wax that melts down.
In a morning where not even shadows are left behind, what is there other
than this now?

I ask of you, please don't be sad even if nothing is reflected in those eyes.

Oh God who will not save us, please, answer me.
If the meaning of life can only be felt in death, then it is in death that
the flower of life will bloom.
I sing the words of desertion.

How many times today will we make a festival of this birth day decorated
in silence?
In this beloved place where you were born and raised,
You'll be forever beautiful in your sleep
On your journey decorated with red, weakly-trembling roses.
Yasuraka ni to negau no ha Keshite joumakase no kotoba ja nai
Kimi ga kokoro kara waraeru you na Koufuku ha soko ni aru no ka
These aren't the tranquil words you wished to leave me.
Are you happy there, so you can laugh from the depths of your heart?
Notes
1. “Seimei” (“life”) is written, but Ruki sings “inochi” (“life”).
2. “Genjitsu” (“reality”) is written, but Ruki sings “ima” (“now”).
