A translation of Asriel’s “Oz to Majo” from their first album “Shiroi Yami ni Shizumu Eien no Yoru”.

扉の開く音 帰る足音が
響く夜の空に 満ちる月光
Tobira no hiraku oto Kaeru ashioto ga
Hibiku yoru no sora ni Michiru tsukihikari¹
The sound of the opening door, and of returning footfall,
Echo in this full moon-lit night.

 

こだまする叫びが 闇を切り裂いて
翳る夜の月も 背く顔のように
泣き崩れた心の叫び
あなたヘ ナイフ 差し向けた Melody Line
もう帰るべき場所はないと 嘆く少女が言う
空を見下ろしたなら この村を焼き尽くそう
この地立ち止まれない 明日へと飛び出す翼
雨降る次の夜 過去に終わりを告げさせて
歩きだす 涙の道を

The echoing screams pierce the night, and
Even the dark side of the night moon seems to make a defiant face.
The screams of my heart that broke down crying
Are the Melody Line that direct a knife at you.
The grieving girl says that she doesn't have a place to go home to anymore.
Looking down from the sky, it seems the village is burning down.
This earth will not stand still, but instead rushes out to fly on wings towards tomorrow.
The next night, when rain is falling, I'll say that the past will end
And begin walking on the path of tears.

 

流れ着いたあの日から 声亡き夢を見ていた
もう一度夢を見てた 日に戻れるならば
Nagaretsuita ano hi kara Koe naki yume wo miteita
Mou ichido yume wo miteta Hi ni modoreru naraba
From that day I washed ashore, I've been in a dream where I have no voice.
If I could return to that day, I want to see the dream just once more.

 

降りしきる雨粒 闇を照らしてた
雲の間月が 隠れ出てきては
追い出された少女の叫び
静かに 扉 叩く Silent Voice
もう帰るべき場所を捨てた 歩く少女が言う
空を見上げたならば この村を捨てて行こう
私 立ち止まらない 過去を切り捨てたからと
雨降る次の夜 全てに終わり告げさせ
走りだす 涙の道へと

The incessantly-falling raindrops light up the darkness
And the moon hides in the space between the clouds.
The cry of the chased girl
Is quietly knocking on the door. Silent Voice
Throw away the place you're meant to return to, said the walking girl.
If you look up to the sky, then throw away this town.
I can't stand still because I cast away my past.
The next night, when rain was falling, I said that everything would end
And take off running to the path of tears.

"I'll go on walking the trail of tears, so that when I return to that day, I'll once more dream."
Is what the girl said. Because she had cast away her past,
The next rainy night, she ended everything
And took off running on the path of tears.

1. “Gekkou” (“moonlight”) is the normal way to read this compound, but Kokomi sings the kanji’s individual meanings, “tsuki” and “hikari”.
