枯詩 Translation

A translation of the GazettE’s “Kareuta” which came with their photobook “Verwelktes Gedicht”, which is a German translation of “Kareuta”.

空虚だった心の詩 意味など探せず
振り返れば 其処には何も残ってなかった
時が経てば色褪せてく 花のような詩
響くはずも無い枯れた詩
Kuukyo datta kokoro no uta Imi nado sagasezu
Furikaereba Soko ni ha nani mo nokottenakatta
Toki ga tateba iroaseteku Hana no you na uta
Hibiku hazu mo nai kareta uta
The song of my heart is empty. If you look back
Without searching for ay meaning, there will be nothing left in that place.
As time passes, the song will fade, just like flowers...
A withered song that won't even echo.

 

過去を求めて 離れて行く
理解ってたはずなのに 何故 痛む
耳に残るその音色はどれだけ胸に響いてくれてますか？
Kako wo motomete Hanareteyuku
Wakatteta hazu na no ni Naze Itamu
Mimi ni nokoru sono neiro ha dore dake mune ni hibiite kuretemasu ka?
I leave to search for my past.
Though I understand, why does it hurt...?
How long will the timbre left in my ears keep echoing in my heart?

 

何も変わらないのに あの頃よりも
前を向けてるのに おかしいね
だんだん遠くなって 手が届かなくて
寂しいのは同じはずなのに
何を求めているの？ 理解らなくなって
気付けばもう何処かへ 飛び立った後
無力な自分に気付き 振り返れば
其処には干乾びた俺がいた
Nani mo kawaranai no ni Ano koro yori mo
Mae wo muketeru no ni Okashii ne
Dandan tooku natte Te ga todokanakute
Samishii no ha onaji hazu na no ni
Nanin wo motometeiru no? Wakaranaku natte
Kizukeba mou doko ka he Tobidatta ato
Muryoku na jibun ni kizuki Furikaereba
Soko ni ha hoshikarabita ore ga ita
Though nothing has changed, if I look ahead,
Even facing forward, everything seems strange.
Slowly you grew further away, so I couldn't reach your hand.
Though our loneliness should be the same,
What are you searching for? I don't understand.
When I realise it, having already leapt out to go someplace,
I come to know my own powerlessness. If you look back,
I'll be here, shriveled and withered.

 

どうしようもなく悲しい時に
零れる涙のような 偽る事の無い詩を
言葉にならない程嬉しい時に
笑顔のような 詩が歌えたら…
Dou shiyou mo naku kanashii toki ni
Koboreru namida no you na Itsuwaru koto no nai uta wo
Kotoba ni naranai hodo ureshii toki ni
Egao no you na Uta ga utaetara...
In times where I can do nothing but grieve,
This song with no lies is like overflowing tears.
The time I'm so happy that I don't even need words,
I'll sing this song in place of a smile...

 

震えはまだ 酷く 続く
息を切らし 立ち止まれば
何も無かったあの時と同じ
冷たい毎日に帰りたくない
Furueba mada Hidoku Tsuzuku

Nani mo nakatta ano toki to onaji
Tsumetai mainichi ni kaeritakunai
My trembling is still continuing harshly,
And I can't breathe. If I stand still,
The same emptiness as before comes.
I don't want to return to that cold everyday life.

Ippozutsu Mata ippozutsu
Sasaeatta Waraiatte
Naite Kizutsuite
Onaji iro no yume wo tomo ni aruiteikou
From the time we were young, we would walk forward,
Just one step at a time, through our dreams.
We supported each other, laughed with each other,
Cried, and hurt,
As we walked together through our same-coloured dreams.

弱さを支えてくれた 信じる人へ
不器用な言葉でしか云えないけど
枯れた声が途切れるまで 此処に居たい

Bukiyou na kotoba de shika ienai kedo
Kareta koe ga togireru made Koko ni itai
Looking at the times we could do nothing but suffer,
I couldn't speak anything but awkward words to the people
Who kept weakness from us and believed, but
Until the time my dried voice stops, I want to be here for you.
