月下の夜想曲 Translation

A translation of Malice Mizer’s “Gekka no Yasoukyoku” from their single of the same name. It was also included on their album “Merveilles”.

何かに導かれ、森の中を歩いていた幼い僕は
不思議にもただ引き寄せられるままに
Nanika ni michibikare, mori no naka wo aruiteita osanai boku ha
Fushigi ni mo tada hikiyoserareru mama ni
When I was very young, I was walking in the forest, led by something,
Drawn by something very strange.

 

古い小屋に着いた僕は、
ホコリにまみれた横たわるピエロに気を惹かれる
Furui koya ni tsuita boku ha,
Hokori ni mamireta yokotawaru pierrot ni ki wo hikareru
Arriving at an old cabin,
A dusty pierrot that was lying on the floor caught my attention.

 

人形は哀しそうな…でも嬉しそうな顔して、
屋敷に連れてってと…涙を浮かべ僕に抱かれた
Kare¹ ha kanashisou na... demo ureshisou na kao shite,
Yashiki ni tsurete tte to... namida wo ukabe boku ni dakareta
He seemed so sad... but making a happy face,
He asked me, "Will you take me to the mansion?"... with tears in my eyes,
I held him close.

 

階段を昇り抜け、
光を放ち彼を待つ少女の人形と互いに見つめ合う
Kaidan wo noborinuke,
Hikari wo hanachi kare wo matsu shoujo no ningyou to tagai ni mitsumeau
I climbed up the stairs,
And there, light was cast on a girl doll that had been waiting for him,
and they gazed at each other.

 

綺麗な夜だから…哀しい夜だから
優しく笑って見守ってあげる
寂しい夜だから…最後の夜だから
これからも二人を離したりはしないから
Kirei na yoru da kara... kanashii yoru da kara
Yasashiku waratte mimamotte ageru
Samishii yoru da kara... saigo no yoru da kara
Kore kara mo futari wo hanashitari ha shinai kara
Because this night is so beautiful... because this night is so sad,
I'll watch over them, smiling gently.
Because the night is so lonely... because this is the last night,
I won't separate these two again.

 

月の光は彼らを…踊る彼らを映し出し、
壁に映る姿は生まれ変わる前のままに
Tsuki no hikari ha karera wo... odoru karera wo utsushidashi,
Kabe ni utsuru sugata ha umarekawaru mae no mama ni
The light of the moon... reflected on them as they danced,
And their forms projected on the wall changed to how they had been before.

 

見つめ合う二人は “最後の夜”…と、つぶやいて
この夜が明けるまで熱い想いで踊る
Mitsumeau futari ha "saigo no yoru" ... to, tsubuyaite
Kono yo ga akeru made atsui omoi de odoru
The two gazing at each other murmured, "This is the last night..."
And, until the dawn broke, they danced in feverish emotion.

 

綺麗な夜だから…哀しい夜だから
泣かずに笑って見守ってあげる
寂しい夜だから…最後の夜だから
これからも二人を見守ってあげる
Kirei na yoru da kara... kanashii yoru da kara
Nakazu ni waratte mimamotte ageru
Sabishii yoru da kara... saigo no yoru da kara
Kore kara mo futari wo mimamotte ageru
Because this night is so beautiful... because this night is so sad,
I'll watch over them, smiling, not crying.
Because the night is so lonely... because this is the last night,
I'll watch over these two.
