白銀薔薇奇譚 Translation

 

 

 

 

枯れた庭の隅蝶を追いかける
黒い猫と白銀瞳の少女
Kareta niwa no sumi cho wo oikakeru
Kuroi neko to shirogane hitomi no shoujo
A black cat and silver-eyed girl
Chase butterflies in the corners of the withered garden.

 

蜜を探し疲れ羽を癒やしに
舞い降りた蔦の這う屋敷の窓
Mitsu wo sagashi tsukare hane wo iyashi ni
Maifurita tsuta no hau yashiki no mado
Searching for nectar, the butterflies alight on the creeping ivy
On the mansion windows and rest their tired wings.

 

灯りの消えた薄暗い部屋
薔薇が落ちていた
Akari no kieta usugurai heya
Bara ga ochiteita
In a gloomy room where the lamplight is gone out,
A rose falls.

 

遊び疲れ 少女と猫は
屋敷に戻り
母親の姿を探せど
嗚呼、何処にも居ない
Asobitsukare Shoujo to neko ha
Yashiki ni modori
Hahaoya no sugata wo sagasedo
Aa, doko ni mo inai
Tired from playing, the girl and cat
Return to the mansion.
They search for her mother, but
Ah, she isn't anywhere to be found.

 

火の気のない暖炉のそばで
疲れてる眠る少女
猫が悲しそうに鳴いた
Hi no ke no nai danro no soba de
Tsukareteru nemuru shoujo
Neko ga kanashisou ni naita
Beside the hearth that holds no trace of a fire,
The tired girl sleeps,
And the cat cries out sadly.

 

ある日少女と猫はついに見つけた
屋敷の奥錆びついた扉の部屋
Aru hi shoujo to neko ha tsui ni mitsuketa
Yashiki no oku sabitsuita tobira no heya
One day, the girl and cat finally found
A room with a rusted door deep in the mansion.

 

蜘蛛の巣が揺れるフリル天蓋の
ベッドに沈んで母親は寝ていた
Kumo no suu ga yureru frill tengai no
Bed ni shizunde hahaoya ha neteita
Her mother had sunk deep into the canopied bed,
Its frills swaying with spiders' nests, and was sleeping.

 

喜んだ少女駆け寄ると胸で
薔薇が枯れていた
Yorokonda shoujo kakeyoru to mune de
Bara ga kareteita
When the overjoyed girl rushed over,
The rose on her breast withered.

 

ママどうしてお胸が赤いの
ねぇ薔薇のよう
ママわたしはお腹がすいたの
ねぇ起きてよママ
Mama doushite omune ga akai no
Nee bara no you
Mama watashi ha onaka ga suita no
Nee okita yo mama
Mama, why is your chest red,
Just like a rose?
Mama, I'm hungry.

少女の運命を嘆いて
母親は命絶った
猫が寂しそうに鳴いた
Shoujo no unmei wo nageite
Hahaoya ha inochi tatta
Neko ga samishisou ni naita
Lamenting the fate of the girl,
The mother had cut off her own life.
The cat cries out with lonely voice.

 

“絶望が生への執着を露呈させる
私は生きているの? 私は死んでいるの?
ここにいるのは本当の私?
私は闇 私は光
私は風 私は誰
痛みだけが私の存在を証明する”
"Zetsubou ga nama he no shuuchaku wo rotei saseru
Watashi ha ikiteiru no? Watashi ha shindeiru no?
Koko ni iru no ha hontou no watashi?
Watashi ha yami Watashi ha hikari
Watashi ha kaze Watashi ha dare

"Despair exposes the attachment to life.

Mama oniwa ni bara ga saita wa
Nee kirei desho
Mama watashi ha hitori ja nai wa
Nee heiki you mama
Mama, a rose bloomed in the garden.
Hey, isn't it pretty?
Mama, I'm not alone.
Hey, it's okay, mama.

 

朽ちた屋敷永遠を生きる
少女のそばに
白銀の瞳を細めて
黒猫は寄り添って
甘えるように鳴いた
Kuchita yashiki eien wo ikiru
Shoujo no soba ni
Shirogane no hitomi wo hosomete
Kuroneko ha yorisotte
Amaeru you ni naita
Living beside the girl
Eternally in the rotting mansion,
The black cat narrows its silver eyes,
Cuddles close to her,
And cries out gently.

I've been addicted to this song lately and the lyrics were so easy to translate that I decided to just go ahead and post it. I tried to keep the narrative so it read more like a story might out of a book, so the tense isn't consistent, but it's poetic.
