Symphony of the Vampire

Banpei no bouryoku to kyouhaku wo uketsuzuketa
Aru asa furisosoida jizenkou no naka he suikomareru made ha
The young prince shut away in the prison
Continued to receive threats and violence from the guards,
Until one morning, he lay in the midst of natural light pouring in, soaking it up.

Kakumei no yo ni umareta inochi
Rougoku no hokori Furiharatte
The life born in a world of revolution
Shakes off the dust of the prison.

Hiroba ni atsumatta Minshuu no koe
Ima ha hangyakusha Kage wo hisomeyou
Taerareru no naraba
The voices of the people gathered in the square
Are now those of traitors. If you can be brave,
They'll seem to disappear.

Mata hitotsu ochiteyuku Toki1 no namida Dantoudai
One more tear of the era falls onto the guillotine.
Everyone delights in the cruel ritual.
I cannot return to that time. Upon the stage that had been completely changed,
Birds, flowers, and letters of love were snatched away.

Hiroba ni atsumatta Minshuu no koe
Soko ni hakobareta Haha no sugata
Saigo no inori wo
The voices of the people gathered in the square
Where his mother had been taken,
Saying her last prayer.

It scattered before my eyes, and the white flowers were dyed to red.
The curtain of the guillotine fell into that beautiful life.
I cannot return to that time. Nobody even realised that
Behind the stage that had been completely changed, a substitute had been arranged.

Notes
1. “Jidai” (“era”) is written, but Kamijo sings “toki” (“time”). I left the original meaning in as I felt it fit the translation better.
