A translation of the GazettE’s “D.L.N” from their album “NIL”. “D.L.N” stans for “Dark Long Night”, which is part of what the children’s chorus is chanting throughout the song. The lyrics paint out the lonely acceptance of one who has seen their beloved pass away from sickness.

ガンジスに紅い薔薇 Translation

A translation of the GazettE’s “Ganges ni Akai Bara” from their studio album “Stacked Rubbish”. This is the one song for which one of the front three hasn’t written music for – drummer Kai wrote the music, and it has a touch of his jazz roots. The song’s title refers to the river Ganges in India, which is the most sacred river in Hindu. They believe its waters are purifying and can redeem the dead; these beliefs are probably why the song makes references to the Ganges.

Bishou majiri no Hymn togireru to douji ni kimi ha fumihazusu
The brass rosario that hangs from your neck
Replaced a light-brown leather rope.
A hymn of mixed smiles stops, and as it does, you miss a step.

Notes
1. “Awai” (“happiness”), but Ruki sings “tsurai” (“pain”); a pun since they are close in pronunciation. For the second time it is used, I left the meaning as “awai” in my translation.
2. “Seiya” is written, but Ruki sings “amai”, which have the same meaning.
