The Revenant Choir Translation

Versailles’ very first song, “The Revenant Choir”, was the sole song on their first single and was also re-recorded and placed on their second album “NOBLE”. Basically all in English, with a bit of Japanese. My favourite song to translate. :Db

 

Too bad the English isn’t that great. XD Oh, Kamijo. We love you so.

 

I have snapshots from the PV but due to the lighting in the PV and the quality the video is on my computer they’re not that great. Hopefully you get the feel Versailles was trying to get across anyway.

God Palace –Method of Inheritance- Translation-Transliteration

A translation of the first track of Versailles’ masterpiece “JUBILEE”, which happens to be their longest song yet. This is also my favourite, filled with powerful and haunting music.

I laugh to myself when I read the title, because I suppose it’s possible that the Japanese characters for “God Palace” would be “神城”, pronounced “Kami-Jo”. The vocalist of Versailles is named Kamijo. XD

If there is one song that sums up the story of Versailles in its lyrics and music, it is this one. Please enjoy it.

月下香 Translation

The couplet song on Versailles’ “ASCENDEAD MASTER” single, also included on their major album “JUBILEE”. This is one of my favourites – the percussion is amazing and extremely powerful.

Thanks to some help from Hime (thank you very much for all your help!), I found out that a “gekkakou” actually means “tuberose” (though my normal dictionaries won’t tell me that, wtf). Which goes very well with the song – in the language of flowers, the tuberose stands for “dangerous pleasures” and “voluptuousness”, hinted at in the lyrics. My assumption is that the dangerous pleasure is that between the Versailles vampires and their willing victims, who fall for their beauty and charm. The lyrics are gentle, but the music is violent… giving that edge of danger, the hint of lies beneath the tender words.

I can’t promise much success with the Latin, since I don’t speak it or read it very well, but I did my best. Yes, I have noticed now thanks to some pointers that all the Latin is spells lifted/derived straight out of Harry Potter. XD I’m still keeping the translation in there, though, to pretend like maybe there is a meaning to all of it (which, with what I derived, it sort of does, though I still probably translated wrong because I'm a loser like that).

Serenade Translation

The most beautiful, emotional song Versailles has produced, from their new album “JUBILEE”, which dedicated to their deceased bassist Jasmine You. Without fail, I cry every time I listen to it.

Watching the PV, you’ll see it’s filmed in a place that is basically just a pure, beautiful, unadulterated white. In Japan, white is the colour of mourning (rather than the traditional black elsewhere). It’s something that not many people know, but for those that do, it just adds more to the sadness that already pervades the music.

Though I can't say everything I wish to express by myself,
