PRINCE Translation

PRINCE is the first song on Versailles’ second single, “PRINCE & PRINCESS”, and was featured as a bonus track on the American release of NOBLE. PRINCE is my favourite track on the CD, and has managed to stay in my top five songs from Versailles despite the advent of “JUBILEE”. To me, there’s something very calming about the song and the music.

KAMIJO, in an interview, stated that the basis of PRINCE is, “Let’s journey to a land beyond our dreams. If you hesitate to go there with me, I’ll drag you along.” There is that sort of forcefulness about it, but there is also a gentle touch of love, so that the force isn’t necessary. Perhaps that’s why I like it so – it has that feeling of protection and gentleness and love.

Anyway.

Saa, kowai no nara ude wo kashite Tsuresareteageru
"Nanika ni kizutsuki nandomo naita anata" wo omou tabi
So, if you're afraid, I'll give you my arm and take you away.
I remember you, who "often you cried when something hurt you".

Komiageru itoshisa ga kokoro wo oshitsubushiteyuku
Yoru ga akeru mae ni
Kono mama
Overwhelming feelings of love will crush my heart.
So, before the dawn breaks,
Just like this,

Anata wo ubaisatte Mou dok he mo nigasanai
Ima anata wo dakiagete Sore he tsuresaritai kono mirai he
I will carry you away, and I won't let you escape anywhere else again.
Now, I'll take you in my arms, and I want to whisk you away to the sky,
to this future.

Ah...
Ah... sono yubi ni fure... sono kata wo daki... sotto kuchizuketa
Kowareta kokoro wo tsuyogaru hana wo mamotteagetai
Ah... touching that finger... embracing those shoulders... We quietly kissed.
My broken heart wants to protect the flowers that pretend to be strong.

Komiageru itoshisa ga kokoro ni tokete
Overwhelming feelings of love will thaw my heart.

Mamorareru shiawase wo shittehoshii
Kitto dare mo reigainaku mamorareteru
Sore ni kizuki hito wo aiseru you ni naru hazu dakara
I want you to understand I can protect your happiness.
Surely, no one else will be able to protect you,
For those who realize it should be able to love.

Anata wo ubaisatte Mou dare ni mo watasanai
Ima anata wo dakiyosete Sore he tsuresaretai kono mirai he
I will carry you away, and I won't give you to anyone else.
Now, I embrace you, and I want to whisk you away to the sky, to this future.

Ryoute de habataku koto ha dekinai kedo
Anata wo dakishimete mama de sore he tobitateru nara
Though I can't flap both my wings,
When I hold you, I can leap to the sky.*

Kokoro wo ubaisatte Mou anata wo hanasanai
Ima subete wo dakishimete Ubaitsuresaritai kono mirai he
I'll whisk away your heart. I will never be parted from you again.
Now, I'll hold it all close. I want to drag you away to this future.

*Looking at the Japanese, the literal feeling of these lines is, “I can’t fly with both my wings, but when I hold you with one, I can fly with the other.” In the same interview mentioned above, KAMIJO stressed that this was probably the section that contains the pure message of the song.

The Love from a Dead Orchestra Translation

The second song (after the instrumental introduction) on Versailles'’ first album “Lyrical Sympathy”. Oh, how I love this song. The music is amazing, the lyrics are striking, there’s a long beautiful piano solo entwined with the band… ah, so good.

I think one of the most amazing things about Versailles is how every song reveals a bit of their story, just a tiny bit by tiny bit, so even when you look at the songs as a whole, you still are fascinated with this mystery that they paint. “The Love from a Dead Orchestra” is one of the most amazing ones, revealing so much at yet so little.

I took some artistic liberty with the chorus, because due to the breaking of the lines, it sounded better in English to combine them than to try and make every line its own sentence.

Kuroi umi Nazoru kaze no tooboe
Sono hazama de
Bara ni kaeta kioku wo ima tadorihajimeta
The howl of the wind traces over the black sea
And at that time,
I began to follow the memories that turned into a rose.

Kemonotachi ga kaiga no naka kizutsukeau
Yami no kioku sae watashite
In the painting, beasts hurt each other
And even memories are given to the darkness.

Why did those days refuse this halted fact?

Hito wo minikuku kaeteku no ka?
Aoki seijaku he to kawariyuku sono senritsu
Kieteshimau ga ii
Are people going to become ugly?
That tune will change into blue silence.
It should all disappear.

Myakuraku kara Sogaisareta...
Genwaku kara omowaku he to
Bunsetsu de ha Kugirarenai
Shijitsu ga egakure
I'm alienated from the connection,
From fascination to expectation.
That phrase will not be cut off,
Painted by the facts of history.

Aoki seijaku he to kawariyuku sono yubisaki
Hito ha kodoku wo mune ni sashite
Bara wo mitsumenagara nagareyuku shi no senritsu
That fingertip will change the blue silence.
People stab their hearts with loneliness.
While I gaze at this rose, the tune of death will flow.

Ah...
Ah... Ochiteshimau ga ii.
Ah... it should all fade away.

Kieteyuke! Moeteyuke! Minikui watashi yo
Ikura koroshitemo yomigaeru shikabane
Kono omoi Todoku nara Subete wo keshisari
Yogorenaki bara no you ni tada saiteitai
Disappear! Burn! No matter how many times
You kill the ugly me, my corpse will resurrect.
If this feeling reaches through, I will erase everything.
I just want to bloom like a rose without blemish.

Kumo no naka wo tsukinukeyuku...
It will pierce through the clouds...

Shinigami ga ima umareru
A death-god will now be born.

Kieteyuke! Moeteyuke! Minikui watashi yo
Ikura koroshitemo homigaeru shikabane
Kono omoi Todoku nara Subete wo keshisari
Yogorenaki bara no you ni saiteitai
Disappear! Burn! No matter how many times
You kill the ugly me, my corpse will resurrect.
If this feeling reaches through, I will erase everything.
I want to bloom like a rose without blemish.

Kieteyuke! Moeteyuke! Minikui watashi yo
Yogorenaki bara no you ni tada saiteitai
Disappear! Burn the ugly me!
I just want to bloom like a rose without blemish.

Sound in Gate Transcription

This song, the “last” song on Versailles’ “JUBILEE”, is all in English, but has no lyrics in the lyric booklet. So, I just transcribed.

Sound in Gate is probably my second favourite song on the album. The music is amazing. That’s probably just me being an ex-orchestra member, but YUKI’s solo is also spot-on.

When the church bell rang,
You should have come back to your senses.
The thing you saw between the sword pointing east
And the sword pointing west
Was his memory.

When the sun rises above your head,
And the shade fades away,
The key of the heart will appear
And the thirteenth gate will be opened.

Don't be afraid of the night.
Darkness is not born out of darkness.

To those who are used to having their hearts pierced...:

You realized the true feeling of "solitude",
A stream from the heart,
A purification
A notification
Of a new consciousness.
Reincarnation.

The glass heart,
And the glass fate...
The thirteenth gate exists in the past.

God Palace.

crystal scherzo - Announcement #2

Okay, well, since #1 was a fail, here's something real.

I have a class ending in two weeks. This means I must concentrate. Concentrate! So, no scanslations will be done until March.

Also, if I keep updating Monochrome Factor at this rate, then I will run out of Japanese chapters so everyone will just have to wait anyway. I think I'll limit it to one chapter every month or two, so that we're not having huge long breaks of 5+ months until the next tankouban comes out.

The reason I say "no more scans" and then post about three song translations a week is because song translations are easy and a quick break from studying, plus a recap on Japanese. I need this, often.

So, please hold on another month or so. Then scanslation will resume.

Shout & Bites Translation

Here’s a translation of Shout & Bites, from Versailles’ first album “Lyrical Sympathy”. I like this song a lot – it’s probably my favourite from the album. :)

The PV is creeper fest. |D And it’s nothing but flashing lights. I gave up trying to take decent, clear pictures. It’s impossible. XD At any rate, enjoy.

Karamitsuita bara no toge ga kuroi shinigami wo tsukisashite warau
The entwined rose-thorns pierce a black death-god, laughing.

Katamuita tsuki no tokei no shita Amai chi no nioi
Yurameku kagerou tachitsukumi
Under the time of the waning moon, there is the sweet smell of blood
And the wavering ephemerality stands still.
